NBC 23 Box Out Bullying

Hidalgo County, Texas – Four out of five students are bullied by the time they get to high school. That’s according to a bullying awareness event called Box Out Bullying.

Donna ISD students witnessed a number of interactive scenarios in this live, theatrical presentation, including cyber bullying to help them identify what bullying is. Officials say many of them usually don’t know when they are being bullied, Donna ISD principal said.

“Bullying often begins at home. We would encourage students and parents to talk to their children and make sure that they have an open line of communication with them and then also with the schools. Please feel that the school is here to help, and we’re always wanting to make sure that our students feel safe and comfortable.”

Rodriguez says feeling safe allows students to be more productive in school.
