Lancaster-Lebanon School Districts | Box Out Bullying District Tour
IU 13 Youth Peace Council Day
Lancaster, PA
RON MARTIN: Many kids feel powerless if they are being bullied or if they witness bullying. But some students learned today that they have the power to prevent bullying.
JEREMY RUBENSTEIN: So if we know that someone is being bullied we will tell someone at school and we’re going to tell someone home.
RON MARTIN: Bullying prevention specialists Jeremy Rubenstein and Ryan Nelson presented their Box Out Bullying program at the Youth Peace Council. Students from across Lancaster and Lebanon Counties attended the event.
MICKI ROTH – Our school has a lot of cliques and a lot of people sit alone at lunch. We should just join together. Everyone should eat lunch together.
RYKER FRY – I don’t think our school is terrible with bullying. We’re not as segregated as other schools maybe. I think we’re pretty including but there are still instances, especially with specific people, where bullying is still a problem.
RON MARTIN: Rubenstein told the audience that over 160,000 students skip school every day because of fear. And over 16,000,000 students have been involved in a bullying situation. If you want more information about Box Out Bullying we have a link to the website at WGAL.com.
